Pots forgive less than borders. Compost dries in an afternoon, roots hit the wall, and a cold night reaches them sooner. Container guides stay with that narrower life for one plant at a time.

Most titles below are “in containers” notes for a genus. A few wider place pages (hedges, small gardens) sit in the same list for now — they carry a “place guide” label so they do not pretend to be pot care. For open-ground planting depth, use a planting guide instead.
