How to repot into airy mix
- Water a healthy plant the day before so the root ball slides. Skip the soak if you already suspect rot.
- Gather the vines. Support the crown, tip the pot, and ease the root ball out. Trim only dark, mushy roots. Loosen circling roots with your fingers.
- Choose a pot with a hole, one to two inches wider — or the same size after a hard rot trim. Airy mix that drains is the point. [3]
- Set the plant at the old soil line. Fill around the sides. Water until runoff and empty the saucer. Do not fertilize. [4]
