How to plant sweetshrub
Work one hole at a time: tease roots, set the crown, then water to settle.
- Soak the pot. Dig a hole as deep as the root ball and about twice as wide. Tease circling roots.
- Set the top of the root ball even with the surrounding soil. Do not bury the crown.
- Backfill with the soil you removed. Do not pack a wet clay slurry into the hole.
- Water to settle air pockets. If the soil sinks, add more backfill to grade — still keep the crown visible.
