What to plant with butterfly bush

Butterfly bush feeds adult butterflies. It is not a host for their caterpillars. Rutgers and other nursery guides pair it with coneflower, black-eyed Susan, salvia, sedum, yarrow, and little bluestem. Leave the trunk flare clear so stems dry after rain and so you can reach the shrub for the spring cut. Do not jam partners against the wood.
